UNIVERSITY COURSES TO PERMANENT RESIDENCY PATHWAYS

Studying the right course may increase your chances of Australian permanent residency or other work visas.

STEP 1

Enrol in a university course that educates you for an occupation that is on the Medium and Long Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).

STEP 2

485 visa (Post Study Work Stream)– International students who complete 2 academic years or more of study in Australia are eligible for the 485 Visa (PSWS). If you study in a regional area, you may be eligible for an additional year or two.

STEP 3

Obtain a skills assessment from the relevant skills assessment authority. Your education and work experience must meet the requirements of the assessing authority. You should make sure that the university/course you choose will lead to a positive skills assessment while studying in Australia.

STEP 4

With a positive skills assessment, you may be eligible for the TSS 482 visa, 491 Regional Skilled visa, 494 Employer Sponsored Regional visa, and 189 and 190 visa).
