Airconditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic – ANZSCO 342111: Duties, Skills Assessment, and Visa Eligibility

Key Duties

  • Installation & Assembly: Setting up industrial, commercial, and domestic air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
  • Maintenance & Repairs: Identifying faults, replacing parts, and maintaining system efficiency.
  • Testing & Compliance: Conducting gas leak tests, refilling refrigerants, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Diagnostics & Documentation: Recording faults and repairs for future reference.

Skills Assessment Requirements

The Skills Assessment Authority is Trades Recognition Australia (TRA). For a positive assessment:

  1. Qualification
    • Must have an AQF Certificate III in Airconditioning and Refrigeration or an equivalent international qualification.
  2. Experience
    • 12 months full-time work within the past three years.
    • If qualifications are from overseas, three years of post-qualification experience is required.
    • For Australian RPL qualifications, three years of post-qualification or six years combined pre- and post-qualification experience is needed.

  1. Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)
    • Permanent visa with no sponsorship requirement.
