Prospective Marriage (Fiancé) Visa (Subclass 300)

People who want to move to Australia to marry their prospective spouse with the intention of remaining permanently in the country can apply for the Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300).

Highlights

  • To lodge a valid visa application, you must be outside Australia.

  • This visa may be available to you if you intend to marry an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, or an eligible New Zealander.

  • You can enter and remain in Australia for nine months to marry your fiancé with this provisional visa.

Key Eligibility requirements

  • There must be a genuine intention between you and your fiancé to marry within the visa’s validity period of nine months.

  • The two of you must have met in person and be familiar with one another

  • As a couple, you must genuinely intend to live together

  • Once you are married, you will have to apply for an onshore Partner visa (subclass 820 & 801).

  • The requirements for health and character must be met.
