Australia is strengthening its partnership with ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste by extending the duration of business visitor visas. From April 1, 2024, nationals from these countries can apply for a Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) Business Visitor stream, allowing multiple visits over five years instead of the previous three. This change aims to boost trade, enhance people-to-people links, and promote investments.
Business visitors can stay for up to 3 months at a time to negotiate contracts, attend trade fairs, and engage in official business, with a 10-year Frequent Traveller stream to follow later in 2024.
These changes form part of Australia’s strategy to deepen ties with Southeast Asia, complementing the country’s broader migration and economic strategy to foster regional relationships and support international mobility.
